A Machine Learning Approach to Identifying Determinants of Severe Obesity Progression – ObesityWeek 2025

This year, the Unit of Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Public Health will participate in ObesityWeek congress organized by The Obesity Society (TOS), presenting a poster titled:
“A Machine Learning Approach to Identifying Determinants of Severe Obesity Progression“.

Obesity is a complex condition influenced by socio-demographic and lifestyle factors. Increasing obesity severity is associated with a higher risk of comorbidities and poorer clinical outcomes.
The main objective of this study is to investigate how dietary intake, sociodemographic, and lifestyle factors can predict the progression from non-severe obesity to severe obesity using a machine learning approach.
