Project description

INTENTION is a project funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU through the Second Edition of the Public Call for the selection of project proposals within the Research Program of Spoke 7 “Policy, Behaviour and Education” of the Extended Partnership ONFOODS – “Research and Innovation Network on Food and Nutrition Sustainability, Safety and Security” (PE_00000003).
The project is financed under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP – PNRR), Mission 4 “Education and Research” – Component 2 “From Research to Business” – Investment 1.3, issued by Managerial Decree Rep. No. 4064/2024 Prot. No. 186137/2024 of 03/07/2024 (CUP J33C22002860001).

Project summary

The INTENTION project addresses food waste in catering services by using meal leftovers as indicators of dietary quality and sustainability.
Using machine learning techniques applied to images taken before and after meals, the project develops an AI-based web application that automates nutritional assessment and provides real-time data on food consumption and waste.
