EFSA – Methodological Support for the Performance of Literature Reviews within Evidence-based Scientific Assessments
The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) is a European agency funded by the European Union (EU) that operates independently of the European legislative and executive institutions (Commission, Council, Parliament) and the EU Member States. It was established in 2002 by Regulation (EC) 178/2002 (General Food Law), following a series of food emergencies in the late 1990s. It has a mandate to provide scientific advice to EU bodies and to inform European citizens of the risks associated with food.
